I have super straight hair, but I like to curl it for change, problem being curls don't hold.?

No matter how much hairspray I use, my hair is as straight as it was an hour before I curled it. It takes me almost an hour to curl my hair, so it ends up being a waste of time.

I have the same problem with my hair. I can leave rollers in overnight and it still doesn't last till after breakfast.

I have started to curl it with straighteners. Just put your hair up and let a but down at a time from the bottom. Get some slim ceramic straighteners like GHD's and get the section of hair like you would to straighten it but instead of just running the straighteners down it just twist them round as you pull the hair through. Don't wrap the hair around them from the bottom just twist the straighteners as you pull the hair through. This gives a great curl and it's really easy to do.

Use larger sections of hair if you want waves rather than curls.

I find this lasts at least all day and most of the next day too :)

Try using hot rollers to curl your hair - that is what my sister uses to curl her hair. Good Luck.

Just Dont Curl it. Look for hair styles you like that you can do with straight hair.

Get it permed curly, but big curls and use gel or mousse to hold the shape of the curl and antifrizz them. When you want it straight again you can always blow it out easily.

Don't wash your hair the day you're going to curl it. The natural oils of your hair often help keep it in place.

I don't know what kind of curling method you are using, but I have really straight hair too, and I find that hot steam rollers work the best.

Also, using tons and tons of hairspray just weighs the hair down.

Shave it all off. When it grows back, it will curl.

It was just a joke for the points. Please don't shave your head and look like me, especially if you are a girl.

How about trying Hot Sets thermal setting mist, by Redken? You apply it to dry hair and either use your flat iron, curling iron or hot rollers. It protects the hair as well as giving it hold. It also doesn't make your hair feel like it's loaded down or crunchy. Apply it to each section as you are ready to curl it. Do you have any layers? You might want to consider some long layers if you don't.

Technique for curling or straightening hair with hot irons. Start at the nape. Use your fingers to section and clip your hair up to keep it out of the way. Spray and curl the nape. Make another section running your index fingers above your ears til they meet in the middle in the back, pull your hair up and clip again. Spray and curl the next section. Continue to the top of your head. Do small sections so the heat can penetrate the hair all the way through. I also like Shaper hairspray, by Sebastian, for curling hair. Holds without the crunchified feeling too.

Hope this helps. I have a feeling my description is not very easy to understand. UGH!

I had the same problem so I got a perm.

A perm stays in your hair anywhere from a year to three years.

You could try a styling product that is designed for locking in curls created by using heat appliances, there are several on the market.

I would suggest a body wave on very large rollers. This should give you enough body for curling and be easy to blow out when you want it straight.

Get a perm, that way you can control the size of the curls and when you decide you want straight hair, just blowdry it straight or straighten it with a flat iron for the day. You can't go wrong. =)

if you want a perm (curls) then get a hair dresser to perm your hair. they use chemicals to curl it and it should stay for about a month (2 to 4 weeks) but you still have to get up in the morning and curl it, the perm just helps it hold mainly. you should look in to it. good luck!

I have straight hair too. Go to a salon and have them add layers to your hair. That will give you body without curling and hairspray.
