Very straight and very thick hair... should I try a perm?

I have the typical very thick and stick-straight hair and I long for curls. I had a spiral perm when I was 10 but it fell out within a couple weeks. Was this maybe because my hair was so young? My hair is not coarse and is about armpit length. When I curl it with an iron or curlers it falls out in 3 hours, maybe 4 (even sleeping in the sponge curlers). Should I try a perm again?

My hair is like yours %26amp; I wouldn't recommend a spiral perm unless you are prepared to deal w/ a lot of volume.

I had a perm 8 weeks ago %26amp; my hair went wild; way too much volume @ the roots %26amp; hard to manage.

If you really must try a perm - see someone who has lots of experience w/ your hair type %26amp; book a consultation to make sure you are prepared.

no

You can try. I also have very heavy straight hair. I find that my hair is too heavy for a perm. I recently cut my hair because I was tired of always wearing in a ponytail. I really like it and the style doesn't fall out in the first 15 minutes. Good luck on whatever you decide to do though!

A spiral perm would probably be awesome looking..but it depends on the shape of your face...because you dont want to make your face look fat..if you have a round face already...

Id say..go to a stylist and ask them..for their professional opinion..
