Ive always loved Sandra Oh's hair in Greys Anatomy but i have naturally straight hair (with a large wave around my neck) thats up to my shoulders. Is there any way to make my hair like hers?

Since you have a bit of a wave, there's some hope. I'm never a fan of curling irons on a regular basis, on account of the tension and excessive heat, and the braids are going to give you a crimped look, not the big, loose curls you're after. Here's my suggestion:
You'll need medium rollers, not the kind for heat. You can get these at Wal-Mart or a Sally Beauty supply. You'll also need a setting lotion of some sort, either a curl-enhancing lotion or a hard set gel. If you have trouble getting your hair to take any sort of shape, you'll probably need the gel. You'll also need a hair dryer, preferably with a diffuser, but not necessary if it has a "low" setting.
Towel dry your hair until it is just damp but not wet. Comb through it a liberal amount of your setting lotion, and make sure it is evenly distributed. Don't go completely crazy with it, though, or you'll have crunch curls :( I like FX Curls Up and Marc Anthony's Curls.
Divide your hair, either mentally or physically, into two main sections--the crown and the length. Roll the crown into sections with as much hair as will fit comfortably on the roller. You want these rollers running back and forth across your head, not lengthwise like a ponytail. This should take 4-5 rollers of medium circumference. Roll the rest of your hair into smaller sections with the rollers running up and down your head, rather than side to side like barrettes. When all of the hair is in rollers, dry the hair on a low setting with the hair dryer, or sleep in the rollers. I wouldn't recommend this punishment, though, unless your hair REALLY has issues taking a curl.
Once the hair is dry, carefully unroll the rollers just enough to loosen the hair, and pull the rollers gently down through the curl. The goal is to keep as much curl intact as possible. Start at the bottom of your hair and work your way up. Once you have removed all the rollers, shake your head from side to side to loosen the curl a bit and arrange with your fingers. You can run your fingers through your hair to separate the curl, but don't overdo it, or you'll look like an 80's brush-out perm :)
Once you get the curl the way you like it, try not to touch it at all for the rest of the day. Curly hair is finicky like that, and it'll get a mind of its own and go roving about without your permission if you separate it from its neighbors.
I should know, I have naturally curly hair :) Hope this helps you attain a lovely, loose curly style. Oh, by the way, if you don't like the size of the curls with a medium roller, use a large, but don't use a "jumbo" roller or you'll just get nice big waves. You could probably get this look with a curling iron, as well, but the iron tends to leave little crispy flyaways if you aren't careful.

braiding will definately work if you have the time. You could braid at night and take the braids out in the morning that way the wait is while you sleeping. Also you could get a strong hold gel and apply it to wet hair. flip your head over and scruch your hair towards your scalp. for maximum efect use a hairdryer with a diffuser on it while scruncing. good luck

I have curly hair %26amp; want straight but my friend who has fairly straight hair uses a ceramic curler - one with a very big barrel. Works great and is not permanent or harmful.
