What is the best way to hold a curl in straight hair?

I have really straight hair, but I want to put it up in a ponytail and curl the hair in the ponytail. Since my hair is so straight it can lose curl pretty fast. I want it to stay, but I also dont want my hair to look stiff and unnatural. What is your advice?

Use a thermal active setting spray (like Biolage) before curling the strand of hair. It'd probably work the best if you used that and put your hair in hot rollers and left them in until they were cold and then sprayed them with a great holding hairspray when you take the rollers out and then run your fingers through the curls. This should make the curls last a lot longer. Hope it helps. :)

I am not positive cause i have REALLY curly hair,

but my mom has really straight hair.

and you curl sections at a time and hairspray them as you go.

but while it is still wet put volumizing mousse in it to hep it curl :)

smother it in holding hair spray if its dry... but this will cause it to be very stiff. you can get it from any superstore

to have it less stiff curl it when its wet or damp and use holding foam. for example shockwaves styling foam. if you've curled it and its dryed, spray it lightly with water so the foam can hold.

Spray the hair with Pantene Shine hairspray before curling, leave in for a couple second and it still looks curled but not stiff.

you can get a straightener that curls hair too. straighteners get hotter than curling irons, so it would probably stay better.
