Why do children have curls but straight hair when they get older?

Just wondering...my daughter had gorgeous curls when she was little and now her hair is dead straight. Anyone know why?

Thats just happens some times, when I was younger my hair was curly, when I was in grade school it just became frizz, and now its curly again.

maybe the curls don't stay so curly after a long period of time.

Their hair is thinner when they are younger. It is much easier to curl naturally when it hasn't been messed with for too long. My problem is i had curly hair when i was 3, straight hair around 10, and now I'm all curls again!

Our hair changes texture and color every 7 years or so. It's not dramatic from one to the other, but across decades is noticeable.

Mine used to be straight, but now it's wavy.

Even the color has changed, from blck when I was a baby to, redish brown, to light brown to dark brown.

texture can change due to hormones, genes determine any changes. Also stress can change hair type.

i would say because normally when you are a child your hair is lighter and finer, and as you get older your hair becomes thicker and heavier...it may just straighten out because of the weight, especially if it only had a slight curl to it.

That's life, my hubbie has a pic from when he was 2 he had really curly blond hair, by the time I met him he was dark brown (his hair) and now it's grey and waving. (Waving Goodbye) poor old sod.
